WaySafe™

WaySafeTM illuminated linear marking is designed for use in low light and the dark. It enables the simple showing of safe routes, the marking of hazards (or routes around them), roof edges, emergency exits and crowd / public order and scene of crime control.

The lighting cable is only 5mm in diameter and emits a brilliant blue/green light along its entire length (max length 100m per unit). The light (electroluminescent) appears very bright at night and its line can be seen quite well even in mist, fog and smoke.

The system comes on a reel and can be battery powered and the whole length turned on or off with the push of a switch. Quick to deploy, waterproof and highly durable this system is available in lengths form 50 m to 100m.

Typical Applications of WaySafe™ Systems
  • Military: Identification of safe routes, bridges, landing strips - can be turned off instantly
  • Construction: Safe marking of routes in tunnels, in lowlight or the dark, in buildings, roof edges and perimeters.
  • Security & Police: Scene of crime, public order, perimeter protection - working with movement activated CCTV, night events management.
  • Heritage and Stately homes: Emergency lighting for large rooms to show safe routes, hazard marking in and outdoors.

User Instructions

The illumination material offers a 130kg load bearing capacity. The material is not meant for lifting but offers the user the ability to pull a person in either a rescue, or danger to life situation. Damage may occur to the fibre and illumination may be lost, if this action is taken.

If the light is extinguished under normal operating conditions, check for breakages, and if found contact Euronova for the repair procedure.

OPERATION

1. Release the drum brake on the rear of the frame so that the cable can be pulled freely. Pull the cable from the drum, to the desired length.

2. When the cable has been extended, turn the unit on by activating the pushbutton on the face of the drum. The cable will then illuminate, as will the Green LED on the faceplate. This Green LED indicates that the battery is fully charged.

3. If the Amber LED illuminates the battery level has fallen to 50 % of its capacity.

4. If the illumination cable starts to flash and the Red LED illuminates and the light is constant, this means that the battery requires recharging as the power level has fallen to 25%.

5. Should the battery level drop below the safe threshold, the Red LED starts to flash every second. The illumination cable will cease to illuminate. This indicates that the battery protection circuit has activated
as the power level in the battery has fallen below 20%. The unit shuts it self down to safeguard the batteries.

Note; you must recharge the battery at this stage to avoid damage.

Hints and Tips
  • This system integrates fully with Euronova's wire-free and paging systems and can be turned on off automatically.
  • Take time to get a full charge. When ready to deploy just pull the cable out to the desired length and switch on.
